Before Coup D'etat

On July 2019, I managed to sneak away to Myanmar with my colleagues a week before school started.

Wait, why so sudden?
And it was a week before school days?
Did you not have to prepare for the new academic year?
Yeah, well.

I am a kind of person who professionally do well at school. But, when it comes to holiday sessions, I'd like to be totally immersed in my holiday, although it's only a week before it ends. Ha!

The plane ticket was bought 6 months ago around February, so I was aware of the dates. All accommodation has been covered since June as well, so that's more reason to go, although it's just a week before school. (Guess the old and young me had so much energy to release back then).

I was super excited because it's the first time I was going to another SEA Country besides Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. The journey was quite long because we planned to visit Yangon for the first two days, Inle Lake (Nyaungshwe) for 24 hours followed by Mandalay for two days. After that, we planned to explor Old Bagan for another two days and ended back to Yangon for only a day before coming home.

Since we bought LCC flight service, we only paid for the seat without additional baggage nor meal. We even had to transfer to Thailand first because there were no direct flight to Yangon from Jakarta. So, we were only bringing one backpack with us. We planned to wash and re-wear our clothes for some days. Hahaha.

Oh, the first drama appeared once we stepped our foot in Don Muang Intl' Airport. Since we had around 5 hours to kill, we planned to stroll around the city. But, the immigration rejected our visa on arrival. So we spent 5 hours doing nothing in the airport. Sad. So, we just talked, slept, strolled around the airport, ate mango sticky rice, looked at the planes come and go. Finally 5 hours passed by. We happily boarded the plane to Yangon.

Arriving in Yangon, it was already late. But we were starving. So, we quickly headed to our BnB located somewhere in downtown. We were quiet in the taxi:  drowning into our thoughts while looking at the streets full of lamps. I was thinking, "Wow, I could not believe I stepped on a new country! What would the journey be? I am so excited!"

Not long after, we were there. We had to walk a little bit because the taxi driver could not find the exact location as it was inside the packed shops building on its third and fourth floor. Oh well, this tiredness killed us inside with the heavy backpack on an empty stomach.

(to be continued...)
